PLUG MTAANI BUSINESS COMPETITION
is a national youth entrepreneurship strategy focusing on unlocking the potential of entrepreneurship and investment amongst the youth. The program intervention focuses on; capacity building; training, mentorship, financial literacy, soft skills development, seed capital, networking and linkages for a duration of 10 years in 2 phases of 5 years each. The Business Development and Investment programme seeks to build solid enterprises by the youth that will become major corporations.
The programme is co-created by the Institute of Certified SIYB Trainers (ICST) Enterprise Developers, a licensed partner of International Labor Organization as a foundational enterprise development initiative that curbs unemployment, the Kenya Investment authority (KenInvest), Radico Kenya- a Kenyan initiative for Youth empowerment, and Crescent 360 media partner.
It involves business development and management training incorporating financial literacy and targets Kenya’s high-potential youth aged between 18-35yrs drawn from sub-counties across all 47 counties. The training and capacity building is based on the International Labour Organization Business Management Training Program dubbed Start and Improve Your Business (ILO-SIYB) focusing on; ILO-SIYB GYBI (Generate Your Business Idea, ILO-SIYB SYB (Start Your Business Module- Business Idea) and mentorship programme based on the ILO-SIYB IYB(Improve Your Business)
The programme seeks to identify, recognize, award, and showcase innovative ideas with the potential of impacting the economy through the creation of decent jobs for Kenyan youth, while connecting/Linking (Plug) the innovative business ideas to opportunities; Business Development Service, funding, markets and Investment linkages through Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Domestic Direct Investment (DDI). The programme will have two levels of awards; County Level and National Level Business Idea Competition
The programme dubbed ‘Plug Mtaani-Vijana2Invest’ Business idea competition programme seeks to bring together young innovators, Kenya County governments, potential investors, Kenyan businessmen and women, Kenya government departments, financial and other institutions including individuals to explore business partnerships and investment opportunities among the Kenyan youth. The plug mtaani business Idea competition incorporates a Tv Show that airs some of the auditions as well as voting for the top most competitive and most popular business Idea.
